News

Luckely i don't have to do this like real news, three times a day, otherwise my apartment on the thirth floor would find it self on the ground floor because it would collapse of the weight. Greet of "Belgian Pearls" told me i should open a shop. I have to say that i would love to do that one day. But that day hasn't come yet. So in the mean time the only customer is me. But i don't complain, love to hunt for little treasures.
Here are the pictures of the items of the week.

A nice real life size head of a woman, 1944

A study representation, arms, leg's and textile

An old picture of a lifestyle magazine, doesn't everybody look great in this fantastic interior?

When countryside becomes city

Brussels was always a very little town in the 19th century, you could through it in 40 minutes, now a days it seems it never end. It's different everywhere off course. But the pictures i share with you today are pic's of the oldest building's in Ukkel (one of the parts of Brussel). A long time a go it would have been the lonely houses in the neighborhood. But now a days it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The contrast couldn't be greater. But we're used to that over here :-)

Hope you enjoy them.

Park of the small Sablon

"The Sablon" isn't far from my place and it's a wonderful place to do some shopping or to just eat something. It's really a place when you can also "eat with your eyes". Everywhere there are antique shops. But at the end of it there is a fantastic little park. The ironwork is extremely detailed. It's the work of Henri Beyaert, my favorite architect of the 19th century Brussels. Here are some pictures, hope you all like it.

Antiquaires

New addition to my library. A very nice book from Assouline, can it be different when it comes from Assouline??? If i have to answer that question i will have to say no. The title of the book say's it all i think, it's a short explanation of the profession and some history about it. And then you have a whole list of very nice antiquairs of Paris. All the great names are there, don't worry, and it's not only name's. We also receive some gorgeous pictures. Will share some with you all.

Alex Van De Walle

I discovered this wonderful architect years ago when i saw a reportage about his home in the Rue de Flandre in Brussels. It's a nice 18th century house, a large facade, but only one room deep, there are 4 levels. I have no pictures of this place, will try to find them. But i have pictures of his new house. One of the soooooooo many nice houses in Brussel. It's a wonderfull place where his personal touch is very visible, it's even a pleasure to see that most of the furniture moved with him to his new place.
Here are the pic's, enjoy them like i do!!!!
