One room finished

Last week my boyfriend finished the curtains in our Napoleon III living- room.
That room took months to finish, paint, putting gold on the ceiling and the walls. Hanging textile on the walls, moving furniture, creating a mirror. But finally it's finished. Everything has been done by ourselves. A lot of sweat and late hours have gone in this project. But I can say we never did something like this. And everybody is stunned when they enter the living-room.

What do you think?

From someone who gilds and paints for a living....a feel your pain! The only way my house gets any attention is around 8:00pm at night....tough hours! You have to be so proud ! It looks incredible.

Utterly fabulous, I am going to do some silver gilding on my deep blue walls and then the ceiling in the foyer!

Wow! A spectacular finish! I love the red and gold, mirror, placement of furniture, and the antiques. Quite striking are the mirrored doors and mirror above the mantel which throw light around the room and open up the space even more. I can only imagine that the room is even more beautiful in candlelight.

Very interesting David, the change is really stunning and the final result is fabulous.Congratulations for your Interiors and for the work.
You really expresses well the art of celebration, luxury, and the taste of the splendor of this era. worthy of Napoleon III rooms in Louvre!

It looks as if it hasn't had more than a refreshing and minor update (sofa/cocktail table) since when it was initially installed in 1865. A tour de force!
