Jacques Wirtz

This morning when I was reading the weekend edition of "De Tijd", a financial paper like the Financial Times. There was an interesting article about Wirtz. For the one's who don't know him, I am sure Greet of Belgian Pearls will know him :-)

For a little Biography on him, click here.

The website is under construction, but you have to see all the projects he has done, they are just stunning.

And for the one who don't know his work, here are some pictures. I am sure you will love his work.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Reason why i wasn't so much online this week!!!

Last week I painted the inside of my mahogany cupboard. The plan was to make a nice place for glass, silverware and ceramics, from the moment i saw it in an underground garage of a friends aunt's. I knew I would use the farrow & ball paint, "Stone Blue". So i went to the shop at the Sablon near my place and ordered it. The result is practical and nice to look at also I think.

What do you think?

Before.

During :-)

News

Today i got 4 new items, Corinthian silver columns. There are just wonderful, They aren't very ancient, but that's not a bad thing. They have a lot of style and will make every table just look sophisticated. Just on my living room table or on a commode they will be also gracefully.
Don't you agree?

Christmas

Not 100% back yet, but i can't do nothing. I would become crazy. So as planned I got my christmas tree this morning from the Sunday market near my place. Early in the morning there is not too much people there also so I had more choice. I bought a very nice and high model this year. It's even a bit to high for my living room. But that doesn't make it less nicer. So here i can share some pics with all of you.

Hope you like it.

Didier Abbeloos

While reading the post of Greet ( i don't have to present here i suppose :-). I suddenly remembered another wonderful place not so far from there, the house of antique dealer Didier Abbeloos. I know the region of those two places very well because I grew up there. It's a nice piece of the flemish countryside.
Normally i always threat my readers on a lot of good pictures, but this time nothing to find. Don't worry there is a nice video on his website that makes everything good :-)

Clic on the name here below for the video.

Hope you enjoy it.

Cold outside, warm inside

Today was a very hard day, sick and at the office. So i have to stay in bed this weekend. Not a pleasant thing, but i don't want to be sick during the week. So here is a picture i made today of my fireplace in my bedroom. The good side is that i can blog a lot from out my bed, so i will do my best this weekend.
Hope you enjoy the picture.

Portraits

Don't know what i have with portraits but I am always attracted to them. If i have to choose between a landscape or a portrait I know what will be the first choice. They always have a sort of mystery. Why was it made, for which occasion??? Most of them we will never know because they have no name or history. They are anonymous, the person disappeared but isn't forgotten. I know it's very romantic thinking, but I like it.
Here are some i have in my possession. They are not all mystery people because one is of my grandmother when she was a little girl :-). And the last portrait is one i made of myself when i was still a student.
